Please be advised there are a number of virus emails being sent with our name
on them. Screensaver.com has nothing to do with these emails and is in no way
responsible for sending them. Unfortunately it is very easy for anyone to put
our name into an email message and send it out to thousands of people, and there
is nothing we can do to stop them.
If you receive a suspicious email with an attachment, DO NOT open the attachment.
Screensaver.com does not ever send attachments with its newsletters and if you
do receive an attachment claiming to be from us, it is probably a virus that was
sent by someone else. We strongly recommend that you never click on an attachment
you are not specifically expecting and from someone you know. A virus on a friend's
machine can send itself to you without your friend's knowledge. Email your friend
and ask if he really meant to send you the attachment and also ask where he/she
got it. Be that careful.
One virus can be detected by a file in your recycle bin that cannot be removed
or returns automatically after you remove it. If you right-click on that file
and view the "Properties" you may find the author listed as "screensaver.com"
(or some other randomly generated web site name). That is definitely a virus.
We had nothing to do with creating or spreading that virus. Use a recently updated
anti-virus program to rid your computer of that virus.
It is also important to keep your "Windows Update" process current.
Doing so "patches" the security holes that hackers find and exploit
in Windows, Outlook, and Outlook express. If you don't do this, a number of viruses
can run themselves and infect your computer just by appearing in the the "preview
pane" of your email software.
Screensaver.com periodically sends out an "Enews" newsletter only
to people who have intentionally signed up for it. We do not buy mailing lists
and then spam them. A genuine Enews newsletter from Screensaver.com will always
have an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If you received email from us, it is because
you subscribed to our newsletters by giving us your email address. If you no longer
want to receive correspondence from us, you can unsubscribe via our web site and
we will no longer send you email. On the other hand, if you have never subscribed
to our site but have received something with our name in it, chances are you have
received a virus message which did not originate from us.

If you would like to unsubscribe from one of our genuine Enewsletters, please
go to your last issue and follow the unsubscribe advice at the bottom of that
newsletter. This will ensure that you will be removed from the correct newsletter.
